The friendly relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Guinea continued to enjoy sound and steady growth in 2013.
The two countries maintained exchanges at all levels. In September, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Guinean President Alpha Condé on the 55th anniversary of Guinea's independence. In March, President Condé sent a congratulatory message to President Xi on his assumption of office. In the same month, President Condé attended the breakfast meeting between President Xi and African leaders in South Africa and spoke highly of China-Africa and China-Guinea relations in his speech. In April and July, President Condé sent two messages of sympathy to President Xi over the earthquakes in Lushan, Sichuan Province and Gansu Province respectively. In March, Guinean Prime Minister Mohamed Said Fofana sent a congratulatory message to Premier Li Keqiang on his assumption of the office of Premier.
In December, China's new Ambassador to Guinea Bian Jianqiang presented his credentials to President Condé.
Cooperation between the two countries in economic, trade, health and other areas saw steady progress. The two governments signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation and some other documents. China delivered anti-malaria drugs, office supplies and other materials to Guinea and finished the well and rural primary school projects. China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and Guinea signed the Mining Convention Between the Republic of Guinea and the CPI International Minerals & Investment Co., Ltd. on the development of the Boffa bauxite mine. The Diamond Plaza-International City of Conakry project, invested by China Dreal Group was launched. President Condé, Prime Minister Fofana and other high-level officials of Guinea attended the ground-breaking ceremony.
